Well, you could say it started when my husband and I first visited Morocco as teenagers back in the 1980’s.
I particularly remember the exotic culture, arabesque architecture and the heady scent of leather and insence wafting in the air, something that kept pulling us back time and again.
I think I would describe myself as a dreamer, creator and eternal optimist and so on another trip to Morocco, while sitting in a cafe sipping cafe au lait my mind wandering across the kaleidoscope of textures colours and designs my imagination was running riot.

I proceeded to spend the next few weeks running around the souks like a headless chicken, talking to everyone, visiting tanneries, finding out about leather production and visiting workshops. It was during this time I met a couple of artisans who have become dear friends and business partners, who bring all my crazy, and not so crazy ideas to life.

All the leather we buy is naturally tanned, this means it is prepared with natural resources using no harmful chemicals making it an environmentally friendly product with no chemical waste. Our babouche are made from a particular type of the softest sheeps leather, and our bags are made from either sheep, goat or cows leather.
All our products are 100% handmade by just two artisans.
The photography is done by us so you can be sure the product you buy is the one you will receive, also I have a thing about photographing the products in the beautiful West Wales environment, where we live.

Rock the Kazbah is a small family business, with me (Jane) generally running around trying to do everything, my husband does the computer work that I don’t understand and I occasionally bribe my daughter to do some modelling.

When I am not working at Rock the Kazbah (which is hardly ever) you might find me in the local garden center buying even more plants, cooking a gourmet meal, or daydreaming about more designs for more products!
