Finding new homes for old books
My passion for reading dates back to childhood. When I got married my husband (also a big reader) and I combined our books into one big home library. We shared our love for books with our daughter (who is all grown up now and living in her own home) and we talked about how we’d love to own a bookshop some day.
At the time, almost 30 years ago, I imagined having a dusty old fashioned shop building with bay windows and wooden shelf upon shelf of books. I pictured customers browsing quietly among the rows of books until they found the perfect title. No one had heard of the internet and I couldn’t have conceived of running this online shop. Yet here I sit today in my little home office dedicated to finding “new homes” for antique and rare books.
