Description
Yellow / Painted Buddha Belly Bamboo – Bambusa ventricosa 'Kimmei – 1 Division / Starter Plant Approximately 15" Tall – Clumping Non-Invasive
This is a Division / Starter size plant. Will only have 1 cane and may or may not have leaves.
An amazing conversation piece, the internodes of the Yellow Buddha Belly Bamboo will often swell like a "belly," hence the name. Sometimes called "Painted Buddha Belly" because its green canes turn to a golden-yellow pinstriped with dark green. The lush, deep to bright green leaves contrast beautifully with the yellow canes. He grows from 35 to 50 feet in height (8 to 15 feet in pots) with a tight-clumping form, and gracefully arching canes that give the entire pant a vase-like shape. A showcase in the garden or containers!
Painted Buddha Belly likes full sun to partial shade and is fully hardy in zones 8b and warmer, returning from the roots in zone 7. Water requirements are moderate, unlike most bamboo that requires more water until well established. Painted Buddha Belly seems to produce a more pronounced “belly” when conditions are dryer.
Height of 30 to 55 feet and cane diameter of 2.5 inches at maturity.
The Painted Buddha Belly is currently growing in a 1-gallon pot. He will have the root ball wrapped in watering gel to keep the plant hydrated during shipment. While we strive to have a pronounced "belly" on every order, please know that you will receive a true Buddha Belly and that if no "belly" is present, it is only a matter of time.
No shipments to ARIZONA, HAWAII or ALASKA
