Unlike the later tinder tube, the wick match was not intended to catch a spark. This was a tool found in the home tinder box used to transport a flame from candle to candle or from candle to the fireplace. Our wick match is made of 10 inches of jute twine impregnated with beeswax and a brass tube to hold it by. To use the match simply push the wick through the tube until the chard end is visible and light it. You can adjust the size of the flame by sliding the wick in or out of the tube. When finished with the flame you can draw the wick back into the tube to extinguish it.
