Gorgeous on the counter but a true classic workhorse! Our white Italian Marble mortar and pestle has a timeless shape, perfect for ANY style kitchen or the perfect addition to your collection! Its slightly flared sides make it perfect for serving those guacamoles you just made! We use both Calacatta and Carrara grade white marble. Though there are many attributes of both of these marbles that overlap, here is a BASIC description of each grade.
Carrara has a greyish white base that sometimes
exhibits fine, shiny or sparkly particles. Its veins are grey in color and are distributed over the surface as capillaries and smudges.

Calacatta marble is characterized by its deep white color and thick, elegant veins that vary in color from beige, gold, gray and even green tones.

Both can range from snowy white to heavily veined in grey. If this is materially important to you, please leave a note at checkout directing us toward some of the attributes you prefer. While we can't guarantee a perfect fit as many descriptions are subjective, we certainly will try to do our best in selecting the right one for you! Each kit comes with 4 oz of our coarse grind Himalayan Salt. This is the perfect grind to work your herbs and spices into and to cure the mortar! It also makes an outstanding medium for curing the mortar! We include curing instructions and information on care and cleaning as well as several of our very own ELEMEANTS kitchen recipes in this kit!

The mortar (bowl) is 4.5" in diameter and 2.5" high and has a protective pad on the bottom. The pestle is 5" long.
