This particular type of shark is characterized by a slender and lean body, featuring a diminutive caudal fin. Two dorsal spines contain a mild toxin, which serves as a defense mechanism against predators. Females tend to be larger than males, with males reaching lengths of 2.6 to 3.3 ft. and females reaching up to 5.2 ft. in size.

These sharks typically inhabit shallow, coastal waters, but have been discovered at depths of up to 3,000 ft. below the surface. Rather than swimming in the open ocean, they prefer to roam the sea floor in search of food, unlike many other shark species. These unique creatures also venture into subarctic waters and can be found in temperate and subarctic habitats all across the world.

The glass jar measurements are 7" in height by 2" in width and you will receive a specimen similar to the one pictured above.

This specimen is preserved in 70% alcohol, with the addition of a small amount of blue food coloring dye for visual contrast.

PLEASE NOTE that shipping regulations prohibit liquid transportation. However, our products will be carefully packaged in moist paper towels and zip lock bags for safe transport. The glass should be filled with one bottle of 70% alcohol upon arrival. To achieve the desired blue color, add a small amount of blue food coloring dye using a toothpick. Directions will be provided.

When the product arrives, you will need to personally handle and store the shark in a glass jar. This is necessary due to shipping regulations and the fact that it cannot be shipped with alcohol. It will be delivered to you wrapped in a damp towel, as well as included gloves and instructions.
