The star Alphecca (Alpha Coronae Borealis) in the constellation Corona Borealis has been referred to as Margarita Coronae, meaning the "Pearl of the Crown" in Latin.
Arabic speakers sometimes refer to Orion’s Belt as “Salasil Min Alluwlu” meaning “String of Pearls”.
The star Phecda (Gamma Ursae Majoris) in the constellation of Ursa Major is called "Tian Ji" in Chinese, meaning "Celestial Shining Pearl".
A star in the constellation of Tucana that was formerly designated as HD22187 is now named Poerava. It was given this name in 2019. Poerava is the word in the Cook Islands' Maori language for a large mystical black pearl of utter beauty and perfection.
Care Instructions:
Always put your pearls on last, after getting dressed, applying perfume, make-up, lotions, and hairspray or hair products. Also, always remove your pearls first before getting undressed. After wearing, gently wipe your pearls with a damp cloth to remove any perfume, makeup, or grime that might have come in contact with your pearls. Then dry them immediately using another cloth, and let them air dry the rest of the way if they aren't totally dry before storing them. If your pearls are visibly stained, you can mix a solution of lukewarm water and mild dish soap, dip a soft cleaning cloth in it, and wipe the pearls. Make sure the pearls are totally dry before storage. Do not wear your pearls in the pool, bath, sauna, or shower. Pearl jewelry should never be submerged in water. Never clean pearls with a steam or ultrasonic jewelry cleaner. Both of these methods are likely to damage the outer layer of the pearl. Pearls are prone to scratches, so store this item separately, preferably in a fabric-lined container. To prevent your pearls from getting brittle, dry, discolored, and eventually cracking, wear them at least a few times a month so they get some moisture.
