Lingam symbolizes the God Shiva and is revered as an emblem of generative power. It’s disc shaped base represents the Goddess Shakti . Together, they symbolize the union of the feminine and masculine principles and represent the fundamental creation of life and of nature itself as well as a fundamental spiritual balance. Lord Shiva also known as Mahadeva is one of the principal deities of Hinduism. He is the Supreme Being who creates, protects and transforms the universe and is an omniscient Yogi who lives an ascetic life on Mount Kailash as well as a householder with wife Parvati and his two children, Lord Ganesha and Kartikeya.
