Maker's note- One of my absolute favourites!! Naturally shed Red deer antler from Glen Etive, Glencoe. Scottish Bog Oak and Bloodwood. Hilt of Ben Nevis Distillery Barrel Stave Oak, Stunning Damascus steel blade, you will not be disappointed.
Handcrafted in Scotland, made from naturally shed red deer antler, found in the shadow of Buachaille Etive Mòr, in Glen Etive(Which featured in the movie Skyfall.
The hilt is Ben Nevis Distillery Barrel Stave Oak
Bloodwood, although it isn't a native Scottish wood I used it as a metaphor for the blood shed in Glencoe, at the famous Glencoe massacre of 1692.
"Oh cruel is the snow that sweeps Glencoe
And covers the grave o' Donald
And cruel was the foe that raped Glencoe
And murdered the house o' MacDonald"
The Antler has been polished, but if you look closely you can see marks created by the animal during rutting.
Stunning Damascus steel blade, in the interest of safety is sent them unsharpened.
Carefully hand stitched full grain leather sheath is included.
This Sgian Dubh complies with UK knife laws due to it’s blade length being less than 3 1/4”(87mm) and being fixed, and by purchasing this item you agree to be over 18 years old(16 years old in Scotland)
The timber is hand sanded satiny smooth and finished with a long lasting environmentally-friendly oil that keeps the natural look and feel of the wood and allows it to breath. (Tested according to DIN EN 71, Part 3, Safe for Toys.)
This is a beautiful object which will be a talking point every time it is worn, was made with Scottish passion and craftsmanship. It will wear well and look better as it gets older, treasure it for every time you wear your kilt. Use it every Burn's night to address the haggis. It will become a family heirloom and will be handed down to future generations.
