Beeswax candles burn with a warmer, brighter flame and last longer than standard paraffin candles.

Beeswax has a subtle but distinct aroma that can be described as warm, natural, and slightly sweet. The scent of beeswax candles can vary depending on the type of wax used and the specific apiary it was sourced from. Natural beeswax also has a small amount of propolis, a resinous natural substance collected by bees from budding trees to strengthen the hive. It has a subtle woody, earthy, and slightly medicinal smell with notes of honey.

People have been using beeswax candles all over the world for centuries. They were used in ancient Egypt, Rome and Greece. Clean burning, sweet smelling beeswax candles were considered a luxury in Europe in the middle ages when most people had to rely on tallow to illuminate their homes. Beeswax candles were even used as a form of currency.

There is some evidence that burning beeswax candles can help to clean and purify the air by releasing negative ions into the atmosphere causing airborne particles and allergens to sink to the floor. The warm beeswax also deodorizes by releasing a mild fragrance into the air.

I add a small amount of non-toxic proprietary fragrance oil to my beeswax which may vary from batch to batch and candle to candle. The fragrance oils do not overpower but enhance and compliment the natural scent of the beeswax. I use only essential oils and fragrances which have been tested and certified to be safe.

Please be aware that this is a handmade candle and beeswax is natural product. There may be slight imperfections and the color can vary from a light butterscotch to deep amber. Exposure to UV rays can also cause the color to become pale over time.
Irregularly shaped decorative candles may not burn evenly or completely.
