On offer here is a unique 1970s vintage steel padlock with 2 keys from Soviet Ukraine. Beautifully functional, this original lock is authentic and very useful.

The Ukrainian "Control Door" padlock stands out for its unique design, originally conceived not as a traditional padlock but as a reusable tamper seal. Originating from the Soviet Union and produced in various Soviet countries since the 1950s, this particular lock was made in Ukraine in the 1970s.
Instead of relying on complex mechanisms for manipulation resistance, the lock is ingeniously crafted to open easily by pressing a small bar inside. Its primary purpose is to function as a tamper-resistant seal for doors, holding a paper seal between the lock's face and the door. Two holes on either side of the keyway align with dimples on the door to secure the paper seal. Used in Soviet times to prevent thefts by people with access to the lock, there were special printed seals that were unique to prevent picking.
