Rustic White and Red Stoneware Carafe with Six Small Cups-sid-21720

This well proportioned carafe can hold juice or other drinks to be enjoyed in small doses in the accompanying small cups. I threw them on the wheel from smooth white stoneware clay. But I glazed them heavily with Webster’s White sand glaze that adds a rough texture and gives them a sturdy stone-like appearance. I glazed the inside with a deep red that mixes with the white sand glaze mottling down the tops. I carved the foot of the carafe and glazed inside the ring. I added an impressed floral motif to the bottom of each of the cups. The carafe holds 3 cups and each of the cups holds ½ cup. The carafe measures 6 ¾ “ h. x 5” d. with a slender neck and flaring lip that make it easy to hold and pour. The six cups are all about 3” h. x 2 5/8” d and they weigh about 9 oz. each.
