1950s Fine China

In 1908, Nagoya Seito Sho, a company that manufactured fine china, was founded by Kotero Asukai. The founder used to earlier work as an engineer with Noritake. In Japanese, the word ‘Meito’ means a fine or an excellent sword. The headquarters of this company is located in Nagoya, Japan. Many artists from the Noritake company followed Asukai to the new company. This is the reason for the products of these two companies to resemble each other. The similarities between the products of these two companies are so much that, at times, it can be difficult to differentiate between them without a backstamp.
