Piper Auritum – Hoja Santa – Rootbeer Plant – Mexican Pepperleaf – Acuyo

One of the coolest herbs around – not only is it a beautiful ground cover that tastes great in egg dishes, chili, black beans and rice, salsas, quesadillas, masa for tortillas, and more, but it's also an excellent medicinal. And, when you rip the leaf it smells like freshly opened rootbeer soda!
This is a hardy perennial that thrives in areas 8 – 11. In the cooler climes, it will die back in the cold but will shoot up again in the Spring. If you don't want this lovely plant to spread, plant in pots instead.

When your plant arrives you may see a white residue on its leaves. This is NOT a disease, but the mineral residue from our irrigation well water. It will not harm your plant and, if you're concerned with the appearance, it should wash off with a gentle rub of mild soapy water.

We ship all plants USPS Priority on Mondays and Tuesdays only, Wednesdays if going to a central/south Florida address. Please understand that we cannot be responsible for how or when your package arrives at your house. We only ship perfectly healthy plants in boxes that are not crushed, folded, torn, etc. However, that is not always how they arrive.
We can only guarantee that your plants are healthy and packaged well before handing them off to be delivered to you. We cannot be responsible for any damage or death as a result of mishandling in the shipping process, or if your package sits on a hot porch or in a mailbox all day, weekend, etc. In short, we will not be issuing refunds or replacing plants that are somehow damaged in shipping. In that case, it will be the recipient´s responsibility to contact and file a claim with their local carrier.
