A pair of elaborate, hand wrought .800 silver compotes made in Hanau, Germany by Georg Roth & Co, circa 1890s. Each has a dragon perched atop a shell shaped bowl with floral repousse on its reverse side. Beneath the bowls are dolphins rising from the sea, surrounded by three small water creatures. Each compote measures about 8 1/2 H x 4 3/4 W x 4 D inches. The pair weigh 669 grams.
CONDITION: There is a very small, green spot of unknown origin on the inside of one of the bowls (see last photo). One tiny tear found on the edge of a bowl rim. No other flaws found.
