No-nonsense Cactus Mix

A no nonsense mix we grow 99% of our plants in. We use what local experts in our area are successful with – an all-purpose mix with only two ingredients. It's simple, and it works:

75% Pumice & 25% Desert Compost

For most growers a simple, no nonsense mix is going to give the best results. Our mix is made with relatively easy to obtain materials, it's affordable, and most importantly it will work for almost all desert plants.

WHY PUMICE? Pumice is a workhorse of a porous rock that is formed during explosive volcanic eruptions. The lightweight, porous nature of pumice makes it exceptional for enhancing soil aeration and drainage, mimicking the well-draining, nutrient-poor conditions typical of native habitats.

WHY DESERT COMPOST? A small amount of organic compost provides the vital nutrients plants need to thrive without limiting soil aeration and without causing soil compaction.
