Learning Albrecht Durer's methods for Copper Plate Intaglio Printing has always been a
long term goal, a weeklong, 7-day class offered by a Photo Gravure artist opened this door.
The class concentrated on Durer's actual methods and materials & we made a Coal Tar Ground and Nitric Acid Etch. the same methods used by mad poet William Blake. We of course had adequate ventilation. Prints like these made by Durer & his students sold at the Faires in the early 1500's is how Durer & his wife financed his Art Studios and School. It's why every major museum has a Durer Etching or two in their collections.
