This long handled dipper gourd birdhouse is approximately 14 inches tall and 8 inches wide. The base of the gourd is about 17 inches around (circumference) and about 5 inches wide (diameter). The gourd handle curves gracefully to the side of the gourd. This dipper gourd has been cleaned and drilled with a 1.5 inch entrance hole, 2 drain holes, and holes for a hanging wire. The hanging wire is included. The 1.5 inch entrance hole is perfect for chickadees, finches, wrens, and other birds. The gourd has been washed but not sealed so you may want to spray with a sealer before painting. I recommend spraying this gourd birdhouse with polyurethane if it will be hung outside. All gourds have been grown by us on our farm in central New Jersey.
