About the artist:

Lorraine Cook, owner of Tie Dyed Hippy, has been honing her unique talents for the past 14 years. Ever since the first tie-dye themed birthday party she attended, her passion for creating artistic expression with textiles has been growing. She learned all she could about proper techniques and quality materials to produce professional pieces. Lorraine has dyed everything from baby onesies to massive wall hangings.

For many years she explored her passion, not interested in selling as much as creating her works of art. The joy of unwrapping a newly dyed item to discover the magical patterns that emerged was all she cared about. All the while, her husband Steve was her biggest supporter, encouraging her to do more, to push the boundaries and test her talents.

Over time, she became well known in the tie-dye world, sharing her years of experience and knowledge freely with up and coming artists. She displayed her talents in online groups and became world renown for her style and expertise, resulting in pieces of hers on display in countries around the world.

Unfortunately her circumstances have changed and rather than having the luxury to focus solely on the joy the craft has given her, she must face the reality that it's time to start selling full time. Steve passed away in early May 2022 due to complications from open heart surgery, so she must turn her beloved artistic expressions into a way to pay the bills. Her Shoppy shop was created years ago when family encouraged her to get serious about selling, but until now it just wasn't a priority.

Steve may be gone, but she can still hear him cheering her on as she enters this new chapter of her life and career.
