Ellis Stone opened their stores in Durham and Greensboro N.C. in 1902. This is a little treasure of a hat. An eyecatcher for any formal event. The back has a slight rough spot to the velvet. I'm not sure if a damp cloth used gently will clean this away. It's not noticeable unless you know to look. I could find no tears or breaks to the tiny pom pom netting. The 10 inches long ostrich feather is in very fine condition. The skull type fit spreads 7 inches wide, and left as in the photos is 6 1/4 inches side to side. The hat measures 7 3/4 inches from front to back. The netting gently pulled straight to approximately 10 inches. The rose measures 2 inches in diameter. I consider my photos as part of my description/condition. Some items are left for the buyer to clean as desired. Please use the magnifying tool for close up inspection.
