Japanese Paper Balloon -Goldfish parent and child-

These traditional handcrafted paper balloons are made in the town of Izumozaki, Niigata Prefecture. Niigata Prefecture is located in the north-east of the central region, and Izumozaki Town has long had a thriving fishing industry due to its location on the Sea of Japan. However, paper balloon making grew up as an alternative industry that could not be carried out in winter because the sea was too rough and boats could not be launched during the winter months.
More than 100 years after its establishment in 1919, the Isono Paper Balloon Factory is still making paper balloons by hand in Japan in accordance with Japanese traditions.
Although the paper balloons were originally made as a toy for kids bouncing, these days, they are now often hung and enjoyed as interior decorations.
Hanging from the ceiling , the balloons are swinging in the gentle breeze. Hanging near a window, they provide a refreshing breeze and a sense of the season.
As the thin translucent washi paper lets the sunlight through, they they appear to glow in the sunshine.
