Tania A. Marshall was one of the first psychologists in the world to outline in detail the Autistic female profile, across the lifespan. She initially started detailing her observations and experiences whilst working at a homeless shelter, 30 years ago. Her 2013 blog entitled “Aspienwomen: Moving towards an adult female profile of Autism/Asperger Syndrome” gained International recognition and formed the basis of publishing her work. Tania has assessed and diagnosed many thousands of individuals, across the lifespan, from 18 months to 80 years of age, from a wide variety of backgrounds, cultures and countries.
In 2019, Tania was nominated by ASPECT Autism Australia for a National Recognition Award in the Advancement category, for her work advancing the field of female Autism and Neurodiversity. She had been previously nominated in 2017 and 2016 for her contributions profiling the Autistic female.
Presently, there is a worldwide female Autism crisis. This is the result of gender bias, a lack of research, assessment, intervention and therapy resources. There is also a lack of training within the areas of mental health, education, the workplace, child protection services, forensics, the Police and Law Enforcement.
