I am Peter and welcome to our Pull shop. I started making pulls for my own lights and fans because I did not like how the stock ones looked and they just didn’t seem to fit in my hand well.
This Pull is made from Ash and finished in a 500 year old tradition of Yakisugi. Yakisugi is a traditional Japanese method of wood preservation. Yaki means to heat with fire, and sugi is cypress. It is also referred to in the West as burnt timber cladding and available under a number of brands including Shou Sugi Ban. Notable for fire prevention the process is used on wood sided houses to deter house fires. Processing the ash pull with fire it is carefully wire brushed that removes the softer wood between the different grains creating a unique and visible texture. showcases the two grains. It is then finished with proprietary "special sauce finish" that accentuates the intricate patterns within the wood.
The attributes of the wood ultimately determines the final shape as our emphasis is to capture its uniqueness and beauty. It measures 2.85“ long and is 1.40” in diameter.
Each pull is unique and showcases the natural beautiful of the wood.
Most of our wood is sourced locally here in Western Maryland. Interesting exotic wood is used because it has very unique grain patterns.
Custom pulls can be larger and longer in size and provide a great solution for those who have hand issues such as arthritis.
I have been a wood craftsman for over 20 years paying close attention to the tactile feel of the things I make.
All of our Pulls come with 12" stainless steel chains that are USA made.
