DIY Plywood Casket Plans — You Can Build A Sturdy Coffin!

0 out of 5

Materials: metal screws, Plywood, Wood

You can do this! These are the plans to build a sturdy, attractive DIY plywood casket. Designed for a beginner. Two pieces of plywood and your caring intent are all it takes to contribute meaningfully to the burial of a loved one with this DIY coffin. The build is simple and the result is strong.

Tools needed:
+ saw
+ screwdriver
+ tape measure
+ pencil

A note about the saw: A power saw makes the job much easier, since we're talking about cutting plywood.

If you are a novice woodworker, take courage. You will find these plans straightforward. Simplicity of build is the major design principle. The tool and material lists, as shown here, are short and basic. In 8 steps, you'll have a strong plywood coffin for well under $200!

Estimated construction time is 4 hours. Start in the morning, finish by naptime! You'll be grateful for the easy design and mighty construction.

This coffin is of plywood. Though the wood and other materials are inexpensive, the satisfaction of your hands-on contribution to the undertaking is of great value. Make a deep connection by building the coffin yourself! Taking an active role helps prepare and grieve a death.

The regular size coffin is 6' long; the long is 6'6" and costs a little more for the extra plywood. Both sizes are deep (about 15") and wide (about 23") .

Cut diagrams and photo illustrations included.

Thank you for choosing our DIY plywood coffin plans, which were developed in 2013 during the time my wife Nicole and I ran our business Piedmont Pine Coffins from an off-grid homestead on the edge of the woods in central North Carolina, USA. Prices for plywood have risen since those days! But the plans still hold, the DIY route is still comparatively inexpensive, and the casket you build is stout and satisfying.

Congratulations on opting for an active hand in this undertaking. For the living, may the grief yield to healing, and god speed the adventure beyond for our dear departed loved ones.

With respect — Don and Nicole at Piedmont Pine Coffins
