This is the original Highlander alpaca tam, knitted in super soft pure alpaca and designed for Scottish re-enactment and Celtic style. Perfect for men and women alike it makes a great gift for anyone with Celtic roots.

This tam has plenty of droop built in to the fit, with a diameter of 12.5" to 13" – my standard size is 23" circumference and has about an inch stretch built in; however if you need smaller or larger don't hesitate to ask as I often make size variations, there's no extra charge. Just leave me a note at checkout with your size – you can use the actual measurement taken around your head just above your eyes and ears, or simply your regular hat size (XL / 7 3/8 etc) if you know it.

I've been making this style since 2018 and my regular berets since the 1990s (!) so they are tried and tested original designs, despite the presence of copyists on Shoppy now. I'm so pleased these have made their way to customers across the globe, in every continent and from the Arctic to New Zealand's South Island, from Chile to Japan, and all my pieces are still designed and made by me in my little studio in the heart of the Devon countryside.

To care for your knit, hand wash it in wool detergent and dry it flat. If you need to reshape it you can iron it on a two-dot setting.
