The area is in the southernmost region of China situated just above Vietnam in the Autonomous Region of Guangxi Zhuangzu at 820 feet. The species was named ningmingensis despite not looking at all like the Vietnamese namesake. The variation name is ‘bella’ for this Begonias remarkable beauty. The researchers described the major veins on the upper surfaces together with the contrasting red on the lower surface that Begonia enthusiasts so admire. In nature the plant flowers from September to October. The plants flourish under 1650 lumens and the variation in the colors is described in the literature..
