Exactly as we found it…
Underneath the layers of old twine tied burlap is a 1 gallon glass jar. It has a zinc lid ( standard canning jar size) with a short steel bail handle.
At some point in it's life .. it was most likely used on a farm .. Burlap was used to insulate the jar to keep the contents cool before thermos or refrigeration in the home. It may have held water for the farmer out in the field or in the kitchen filled with milk.
It's got that amazing charm and time worn appeal. I can see it filled with flowers on a farm table .. Displayed with vintage tins or quilts.. Hung on a peg rack or awesome on a Mantle .. It's one of those unique finds.
No Chips or cracks in the glass Jar .. It does sit flat and flush … it's a fabulous early authentic primitive time worn piece..
