A large antique copper one gallon wine or beer funnel by the London maker Farrow & Jackson.
It has been made from thick copper and tinned inside and is strong, according to their advertisements of funnels.
Farrow and Jackson formed in 1798, were 'Wine and Spirits Merchants and General Engineers' making copper measures, beer pulls, pumps, spirits bottles, taps, and many other items.
This funnel is hand crafted with dove-tail joint construction, has a handy brass hanging ring.
I would say it dates from around the mid to late 1800's. If you look at the last photo its in its original state before I cleaned it and would look great in any kitchen.
I have researched these funnels on the internet and can not find another one that has the word gallon stamped on it.
This is a large and impressive funnel which measures 32.5 cm long 22 cm wide at the top
