Why have just a boring on/off switch on your lamp, when you can have this super cool dimmer (yes, it's also an on/off switch)! As is with many of the other exclusive DIY parts available in my shop, I searched high and low for something like this, and couldn't find it, so I created it myself. This module is a 100W full-range rotary dimmer, fit inside a black malleable iron reducing coupling. It features a 2" cast metal valve wheel as the dimmer's control handle. Simply turn the knob clockwise to turn on, then brighten your light(s). Turn counter-clockwise to dim, then turn off, the light(s).
The mount for this module is a standard female NPT thread (choose size upon ordering). If you are the slightest bit unsure of how to wire this dimmer through the hot (black) leg of your lamp, please consult a licensed electrician. I thoroughly inspect and test every single dimmer I sell, just moments before I box it up and send it out to you. If the dimmer is damaged or burned out due to improper wiring, it cannot be returned.
Due to space and design limitations, the dimmer I used in this part is rated for a maximum of 100W. When using this dimmer with multiple incandescent-bulb lamps, make sure their total wattage is 100W or less. It has two 16AWG wire leads coming out of the back, which wire through the black (hot) leg of your light. Safe electrical wiring experience is required in order to install this dimmer. The dimmer module inside the fitting is of very high quality (see photo #7). The overall measurements are 2" in diameter, approx. 3" long, and the weight is approx. 11.5 ounces.
LED BULB COMPATIBILITY:
This dimmer is fully LED compatible, but please keep in mind that LED bulbs (even those marked "dimmable") can behave a little differently than incandescent bulbs. The graphic I made (see photo #10) gives you an idea of the approximate ranges of the knob itself, the dimming range of an incandescent bulb, and of an LED bulb. In the video of this listing, please note that the knob was already clicked "on" and up to the point just before the lights came on, for demonstration purposes.
I now offer some customization options – if you need a mount size not available here (for example, 1-1/4"), and/or if you want a knob color or housing (i.e. brass or galvanized) not available here, please message me and I can create a custom order for you.
This dimmer is also now available with a right-angle mount, in three different mount sizes. Please see my separate listing:
I also have several other rotary dimmer modules available, including one that's rated for up to 300W. See my other listings for details.
IMPORTANT WARRANTY INFORMATION:
This dimmer comes with a 90-day warranty, which begins on the date the dimmer was delivered to you (even if you do not install it or use it right away). It covers manufacturing defects only. This warranty is VOID if the dimmer is physically damaged because it’s dropped (or falls), if it’s abused or neglected (i.e. left out in the rain), if it’s damaged because the knob was forced past its full ON or OFF positions (even if done by a small child), if the dimmer is burned out due to improper wiring (such as connecting either of its leads to a neutral wire), if it’s overloaded due to incorrect voltage and/or wattage, if it’s mounted or used outdoors, or if it’s used to control anything other than light bulbs (such as motors, fans, or power outlets). Cosmetic issues (such as a rusted fitting, and/or chipped paint) are not covered. Keep in mind that small children are attracted to buttons and knobs, and may want to play with it – be careful! Non-working dimmers MUST get my approval before they are returned to me.
