Makers Notes- This Sgian Dubh is handcrafted from naturally shed Red Deer antler found on King Charles III's Balmoral Royal estate Royal Lochnagar Distillery whisky barrel oak with and Capped with Bloodwood, I really like the long handle and fits nicely in the hand.
The Antler has been polished, but if you look closely you can see marks created by the animal during rutting.
It has a Mirror finished Carbon steel blade and will sharpen and engrave very well.
In the interest of safety send them unsharpened.
This Sgian Dubh complies with UK knife laws due to it’s blade length being less than 3 1/4”(87mm) and being fixed, and by purchasing this item you agree to be over 18 years old(16 years old in Scotland) When worn as part of the national dress of Scotland, the sgian-dubh is legal in Scotland, England, and Wales: in Scotland under the Criminal Law (Consolidation) (Scotland) Act 1995 sec. 49, sub-sec. 5(c)
A Hand-stitch Full Grain Leather scabbard is also included.
Care of your Sgian Dubh- Each of my Sgian Dubhs come with a purpose made velvet storage bag, when your not wearing your Sgian Dubh remove it from its sheath and place both in the bag.
Occasionally wipe the blade with oil.
Treat your sheath like you would your good shoes! Give it a good wax polish from time to time.
This is a beautiful object which will be a talking point every time it is worn, was made with Scottish passion and craftsmanship. It will wear well and look better as it gets older, treasure it for every time you wear your kilt. Use it every Burn's night to address the haggis. It will become a family heirloom and will be handed down to future generations.
