Biography
Araki(Kano) Tanrei (1857-1931)

Born on January 10, 1857, in Tokyo during the Ansei era.
Studied under Kano Tanbi and learned the turpentine oil painting technique from Noutomi Kaijiro at the Edogawa Ceramics Factory, where he also painted on ceramics.
Worked to revive the Kano school and adopted the Kano surname later in life.
Passed away on January 9, 1931, at the age of 75.
Originally from Dewa Shinjo, Yamagata Prefecture.
His given names were Jotaro, later changed to Morizumi.
