A Gorgeous moroccan wood, bone and mother of pearl inlaid Marquetry, backgammon set and checkers/chessboard. This piece is made of solid hardwood, with a traditional, middle eastern or moorish, geometric marquetry inlay.

Made in Morocco

in North Africa and Morocco, this technique is called Mosaic, similar to the tile Mosaic techniques, although using small pieces of hardwood and fruitwood, as well as bone and mother of pearl.

This beautiful board and backgammon set is in very good condition with only minor scuffs to the French polish surface in a few small, inconspicuous areas. One of the corners also has a bit of roughness, and one of the tiny pieces of wood seems to be scratched or possibly missing, but it’s very hard to tell since it’s hardly visible. Overall excellent condition and I believe unused and only has some scuffs and wear from storage..

This beautiful piece of mosaic inlay has cherry, walnut, olive, lemon, apricot, ash, stained ash and mother of pearl inlay.

The set includes dice for playing backgammon as well as gorgeous inlaid wood checkers/backgammon pieces in Walnut and Olive wood with star designs. The little pieces are still sealed in their cellophane and cardboard.
