Handmade Filipino Tableya – 100% Pure Cocoa

Our family lives in Cebu, Philippines, and has been making homemade cocoa for many years. We recently shared our tableya with family and friends in the United States, and they couldn't stop raving about it. They asked where they could find tableya, but it is not readily available outside the Philippines. After speaking with our matriarch in Cebu, who runs this small cocoa operation, we decided to open our Shoppy shop to offer the product more widely in the United States.

The process for making tableya is quite extensive. After the cocoa is grown and harvested, the seeds are separated by hand, cleaned, and roasted to draw out the depth of flavor. After roasting, the cocoa beans are ground into a semi-liquid state and poured into molds where they are left to dry and harden into the final product.

Our tableya is 100% pure cocoa that is high in antioxidants and, due to the natural cocoa butter content, contains palmitic, stearic, and oleic acids which are all heart-friendly fats. Nothing is added or removed, resulting in a completely unadulterated product. Tableya is similar in texture to unsweetened chocolate bars but much richer and denser in flavor.

This listing is for a package of homemade tableya, containing 8 pieces. Your purchase will include two of our family recipes to make using the tableya — Champorado (Filipino chocolate rice pudding) and Tsokolate (Filipino hot chocolate).
