Sterilization:
All moss is kept frozen in one of our freezers before purchase. This is to prevent pests and unwanted hitchhikers from contaminating the moss. Freezing allows the moss to retain all beneficial bacteria and microbial life without removing any nutrition for microfauna, unlike heat treating methods.
