These forks are vintage silver plated and will show signs of living a previous life, to include tarnish, scuffs, plate loss, light scratching, etc.
I recommend hand washing your silver. The darkened letters may fade with use but the impressions of the letters will last forever.
Light silver polishing as needed to remove tarnish.
