Mineral spirits has been applied to the item to demonstrate character.

This has been stabilized using Cactus Juice. I stabilize certain species of wood and have been doing so for several years. I follow the stabilizing process as outlined by TurnTex Woodworks, the makers of Cactus Juice, which at a high-level involves:

-Ensuring the wood blanks are as close to 0% moisture.
-Putting wood blanks under vacuum in a chamber using a vacuum pump.
-Allowing wood blanks to soak after vacuum has been released.
-Curing wood blanks.
