The Clairefontaine earthenware factory (Bourgogne Franche Comté) was founded in 1804.
Period of manufacture: 1875-1878, period of Jules Sanejouand (The JS stamp of the floating anchor)
Around 1875, the arrival of a decorator from Sèvres, Victor Ameline, marked a period of expansion in production: opaque porcelain, slips, enamels, fine earthenware.
The Clairefontaine earthenware factory won an award at the 1878 Universal Exhibition for its collection of majolica enamels and Indiana octagonal tableware. Between 1876 and 1879, the factory supplied white earthenware (cooked biscuits without decoration) to the artists Nancy Charles and Emile Gallé.
